Official Launch of Green Protectors Eco-Club in Elementary Schools“

Yesterday, June 21, 2024, marked an extraordinary moment as we launched first-of-its-kind Green Protectors Eco-Club in elementary schools in Liberia, igniting a passion for environmental stewardship among bright young minds. After five (5) months of different intensive learning activities soared to success across four esteemed institutions: John Lewis Morris Memorial United Methodist School, Effort Baptist Church School, Paynesville Community School, and the Dya-Wulu Cooperative Learning Center. Together, we empowered over 80 eager students to become champions of sustainability and guardians of our planet’s future.

At the heart of our Eco-Clubs lies a profound commitment to Article 12 of the Paris Agreement, which emphasizes enhancing climate change education, public awareness, and participation. By instilling these principles early through engaging activities, we cultivate a deep-rooted understanding of environmental ethics, human-environment interactions, climate change impacts, public health, and agricultural science among our young learners with our designed curriculum.

The Eco-Clubs curriculum integrates vital lessons on ethics, including patriotism and etiquettes, laying the groundwork for responsible citizenship and environmental leadership. This holistic approach not only nurtures scientific knowledge but also fosters empathy and respect for our natural world.

Our program activities were as dynamic as they were educational. From a spirited inter-school quizzing competition on environmental issues and sustainability to captivating dramas that conveyed the importance of environmental stewardship, each activity sparked creativity and critical thinking. Recitations on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), inspiring speeches from esteemed guests, and a keynote address from our chief launcher further enriched the students’ learning experience and commitment to global sustainability.
